i bought this telegram, because it’s probably the best thing i’ve ever seen. i’m framing it. it cost $1.
If this is fake they put a hell of a lot of effort into period slang (except the spelling of “trifling” implies an incorrect pronunciation, but language was much less standardized back then…and this was being transcribed from Morse code). Also, there would have been some careful editing to do the errors on some of these characters (part of E in “pulled” missing, extra ink on the first E in “get me”). There’s not really any reason to think this isn’t real.
People nowadays really don’t know “get me?” means “understand?” though??
